Walking through the original front door you enter the old hall, now a spacious dining room & kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped, boasting a large centre island, breakfast bar and modern appliances. For parties up to 10 the dining area can hold larger groups and the table expands to seat all your guests. There is a separate lounge through from the dining room with plenty of relaxing seating, a wood burner and smart TV. The patio doors open from the lounge into the secured garden. Original stone mullioned leaded windows are throughout the property with stunning roof trusses on show on the first floor. Upstairs offers 3 bedrooms, 2 with king size beds and en suite wet rooms, the third bedroom has a super king size bed which can be split into 2 large singles if required. This bedroom is beside the family bathroom which is a wet room with a roll top bath.
Whittington is a small village to the south of the popular market Town of Kirkby Lonsdale, there are great walks straight from the property along the river towards Kirkby. From there you can also explore Hutton Roof & Farleton Fell; a beautiful limestone wilderness.
Whittington is set between the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales National Parks, and the Forest of Bowland. It is an excellent location for exploring the lakes, dales, and surrounding towns and villages. The area is a haven for walkers, cyclists, golfers & fishing. Popular activities such as paddle boarding can be enjoyed on Windermere and for train enthusiasts the famous Settle to Carlisle train journey, Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway are within an hour’s drive.
Closer by, Kirkby Lonsdale offers a plenty of boutique shops, local pubs & cafes as well as fine dining restaurants. There is also a fabulous market on every Thursday to enjoy. Devil’s Bridge is a popular landmark of the town attracting locals, visitors and bikers. St Mary’s Church dates back to Norman times and is popular with visitors.

We were utterly delighted at our recent three night stay at the house. We found it a most beautiful house with everything to make any length of stay an absolute delight. It is a credit to all, the owners, yourselves and the staff who prepared the house. We found all the internal facilities to be first class in every way and the house “environs” were impeccable and beautiful to the eye! Our only regret is that our stay on this occasion was only for three nights which hopefully we can extend on another occasion. Our hope is that all who stay there in the future will respect the lovely surroundings on offer in order to maintain such an impressive facility. Many thanks again.
The Old School Hall in Whittington is a beautiful holiday cottage, renovated to the highest standard. Many of the original features of the property have been retained, such as the huge fireplaces in both the lounge and kitchen areas, and the upstairs roof trusses are beautiful. But a contemporay twist has been added with the new wood and glass stairway and the kitchen is to die for, with every modern appliance you could ever need. Other touches include beautiful ornaments, wallpictures and cushions and throws for warmth on a cold evening. There is parking for three cars and a lovely patio at the rear for warmer evenings. But if you don't want to cook, three great restaurants are within 15 minutes of driving, as well as those in Kirkby Lonsdale itself, which is a beautiful market town. There are loads of amazing walks within driving distance and the views of the Dales are spectacular. This is the perfect place to stay for a vist to the Dales.
A very beautiful cottage (fantastic kitchen!), with great facilities. I can't rate the kitchen higher - usually when we go to a cottage, I was everything up before I use it, but not here! Also, usually there is some piece of kitchen equipment you want which is missing, but not here! Would definitely book again. Seems like a small thing, but the whilst the use of the heavy duty large gravel around the property may deter burglars, it was really annoying to walk on every day!! Yes, I know very minor! having transport is a must as there is no where really to eat within walking distance. We were fine though. So much to do and see in the area. I would thoroughly recommend. The architecture of the original build is still intact and it has been refurbished to the highest and most sympathetic standard.
Excellent car parking spaces x3. These properties are the focal point of the village well presented on a bend. Stylish and sympathetically designed acknowledging its heritage. Full of features. Very well equipped and furnished throughout. High quality kitchen equipment. Excellent wash house. Spent a lot of time indoors as it rained all week its space made the holiday a great success. Lovely welcoming neighbours both sides. Would come again probably at short notice as we only live one hour away.
