Upstairs there is another large double bedroom with an ensuite shower room, a further double bedroom with walk in wardrobe & a good sized bunk bed room offering 2 single sized beds The luxurious family bathroom is also upstairs & features a separate shower & roll top slipper bath from which you can soak, relax & enjoy views over Ingleborough & Whernside.

New Thornber has a private gated garden. There is a rear terrace stretching along the back of the house, where you can sit for a morning coffee whilst enjoying the beautiful sunrise over the Yorkshire mountains. To the front of the house there is a patio area, this can also be accessed from the kitchen where the bi-fold doors open to create one fantastic space. There is another small raised terraced seating area in the front garden & a viewing platform overlooking the Wenning valley where there are the most fantastic sunsets, both are accessed by a couple of small steps.

The Area

Walking into the market town of High Bentham, takes around 15 minutes, the town offer a number traditional pubs, cafes, an independent butcher, bakery & greengrocer as well as a Post Office & larger Co-op & Spar stores. There are good rail links, with the Bentham station being on the Lancaster to Leeds line & the famous Settle to Carlisle train line is only 20 minutes away. New Thornber is located next door to Bentham Golf Club, where there is a fantastic 18 hole golf course, driving range & ‘1922 Bar & Kitchen’ located in the clubhouse, all open to non-members.

There are lots of public footpaths around the local area, the Bentham Heritage Trail consists of 3 different length trails all starting at the train station & the 'Great Stone of Fourstones' a relic of the ice age sits above the town. The Way of the Roses cycle route skirts the town & High Bentham lies at the mid-point of the Lands End - John O'Groats cycle way for the adventurous. The less challenging 'passing places' Bentham 4 mile bike loop is a lovely, less strenuous ride.

The village of Ingleton is a 5 minute drive away and has a number of traditional pubs serving food, & the quirky ‘Old Post Office’ bar. Ingleton is home to a seasonal heated open air swimming pool & a climbing wall centre. The Ingleton Waterfalls walk & White Scar Caves are both well worth a visit.

Also nearby is the stunning market Town of Kirkby Lonsdale offering an abundance of boutique shops, local pubs & cafes as well as fine dining restaurants.

Lovely accommodation, immaculate. Garden and adjacent farm very enjoyable. Plenty of places to visit in the Dales and Lakes.

Fantastic property
Review submitted 31.07.23

Wow what a place to have stayed in such a lovely part of the country. The view out of each window is breathtaking, the house is immaculate with everything anyone would need. We literally thought we were the first ever guests. Lovely touches like the hamper were appreciated and the communication was great, even though we didn’t have to contact them once during our stay due to having all of the information already sent to us/at the property. Definitely aim to stay there again soon. Thank you so much

Short break with family

Had a wonderful time with family at New Thornber.
First class accommodation with good quality furnishings. Nothing had been overlooked and the welcome pack was a lovely touch.
Will definitely return at a later date.

Beautiful House with great views!
Review submitted 8.10.2023

Lovely house with great views. A family stay for a special birthday. Spacious rooms with all the facilities we could need. Comfortable and warm. Peaceful and quiet. Great outside space which we didnt use due to the weather much to our regret. A little far from amenities but that didnt bother us at all. A great stay and highly recommended.

Highly recommend
Review submitted 19.12.2023

The house is excellent and equipped to a very high standard. It is spacious, well designed and accommodates 8 comfortably. The location is beautiful with views in three directions of the atmospheric conditions in this part of the world, and the cows and sheep. The hosts were helpful in finding the property, which can be difficult in the dark, despite the detailed instructions - if approaching from the south on the A65, don't turn left onto the B6480, (as w did) but wait until you get to the left turn in Ingleton onto Robin Lane, as detailed in the instructions! The welcome hamper and tea and coffee were also much appreciated.

A lovely Stay!
Review submitted 29.12.2023

All our family enjoyed a relaxing break at New Thornber over the festive period. The property has a luxurious feel to it and is very cozy. Lovely welcome basket was a nice touch. A couple of small comments - another dustbin would have been useful, and an adult size armchair in the downstairs bedroom would have been welcome. We would highly recommend New Thornber as a great place to stay. Thank you xx

Wonderful house with amazing views
Review submitted 30.12.2023

The house is finished to a very high standard, was warm and had everything we needed. We really enjoyed our stay as a pre Christmas gathering. Laura and the team, even put up Christmas decorations, which made it even more welcoming and special.

Beautiful stay in great location

Amazing views from every window and a great location in the Dales. Close by shops and places to eat. Everything you need is in the house with great bathrooms and showers, comfortable for 6 - 8 adults. Hosts responded to queries and went above and beyond to help.

Birthday Stay
Review Submitted 17.03.24
We stayed at New Thornber to celebrate my 50th birthday, and to walk the Three Peaks. We arrived to find that Laura had decorated the house with balloons and banners, a lovely surprise. The house is gorgeous, and the welcome hamper a nice addition. All rooms were bright and there were views from every window, you had to choose where to look! We slept every night with the curtains open so we woke up to sheep and cows, and the sounds of birds tweeting. Bliss. Everything we needed was there, and I fell in love with the kitchen. Having a boot room was perfect for keeping muddy shoes out of the way, and space for everything to dry off. It was just a 20 minute walk into the village of Bentham, with pubs and takeaways if you don't want to cook after a long day in the hills. and even closes to the golf club! I have already recommended this place to friends.
