Liongate Lodge is a romantic retreat for two, set within the private grounds of Bolesworth Castle. Originally built in 1868 to house the estate gardener, it has been beautifully restored into a luxurious hideaway with sweeping views of the lake, gardens, and castle.
Step through the grand front door into a striking hallway, where a dramatic five-tier chandelier and bespoke mirror create a warm, elegant ambiance. The living room features plush sofas, a crackling log burner, and a Smart TV discreetly hidden behind a stylish mirror. A mirrored coffee table conceals a hidden bar and ice bucket—perfect for celebrating in style.
The bright kitchen and dining area is bathed in natural light from expansive bi-fold doors, with pale granite worktops and a gold-leaf island as its centrepiece. Step outside to a private garden with a bubbling hot tub, fire pit, and serene views.
Upstairs, the boutique-style bedroom offers a super king-size bed with estate views, a dedicated dressing room, and a sleek bathroom with a walk-in shower and freestanding black bath. Every detail—from the curated welcome hamper to the seamless blend of heritage and modern luxury—has been thoughtfully considered.

Guests arrive through the arches of Chowley Gate and follow a scenic drive through parkland before reaching the lodge—a tranquil, private escape with timeless charm.

We had such a lovely stay at Liongate Lodge. It’s tucked away on a private estate, so it’s incredibly peaceful — the perfect spot to really switch off. The interiors are gorgeous and full of thoughtful touches; it feels stylish but still really cosy. We spent our evenings soaking in the hot tub, enjoying the garden with the sounds of wildlife, whilst watching the sunset — absolute bliss. After a long walk on the local Sandstone Trail the bathroom was the perfect place to unwind. So relaxing, so calm, and just the right amount of luxury. We didn’t want to leave!

From the moment we arrived, we knew we were in for a very special experience. The lodge sits in a beautiful, elegant landscape, while the interior is decorated in a bold and distinctive style, full of personality. It was the perfect place to spend a long weekend, with every possible comfort thoughtfully provided. We are looking forward to coming back next year!
Beautiful, peaceful place for a romantic break. The property is luxurious, stylish and peaceful; a great place for a romantic break in Cheshire. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you could possible need. Note to staff: the provided usb chargers have usb-a outlets; they require usb-c outlets for compatibility with the Beats charging cables.
Unfortunately when we arrived the heating hadn't been programmed and the place was like an icebox, hence 4/5 for comfort. Also, the only form of heating in the living room is an open fire; not a problem had matches and cleaning equipment been provided, as once lit it was very effective and easy to manage. Thankfully both issues were quickly and effectively resolved by the housekeeper.
The hot tub is a great addition and got plenty of use.
The bed is huge and very comfortable, and very quiet at night for a peaceful sleep.
